College Football Playoff Foundation Celebrates and Honors America’s Teachers During Teacher Appreciation Week

IRVING, Texas – The College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation will recognize and celebrate teachers throughout the next five days as part of Teacher Appreciation Week -- a week-long national celebration in recognition of teachers and the contributions they make to education and society.

Held annually in the first full week of May, Teacher Appreciation Week provides an opportunity for students, parents and their communities to show appreciation for teachers by acknowledging the hard work, long hours and sincere dedication to brightening the futures of young people across the nation.

The CFP Foundation, through the Extra Yard for Teachers platform, will be honoring teachers in different ways this week in each of the previous and current host communities of the CFP National Championship:
• Monday: North Texas
• Tuesday (National Teacher Appreciation Day): Phoenix
• Wednesday: Tampa
• Thursday: Atlanta
• Friday: Bay Area (California)

“We are so grateful for the teachers in our country, and we are pleased to be able support them throughout the year,” said Britton Banowsky, CFP Foundation Executive Director. “This week, however, is an amazing opportunity for us to join so many others in expressing our deep appreciation for their commitment to the future of their students, our children and grandchildren. We hope teachers everywhere simply know that we are thankful.”

Throughout the week, the CFP Foundation will also be activating on social media through the #ExtraYardGives campaign that encourages followers to post DonorsChoose.org project links along with a message thanking teachers. The CFP Foundation will fund several of those DonorsChoose.org projects throughout the week and will announce them on the Extra Yard for Teachers Facebook (/CFPExtraYard) and Twitter (@CFPExtraYard) pages.
